Something Smells Good on Eighth Avenue

Driving down Eighth Avenue heading towards Hwy 319, you will see a new shop opened on the passenger side. This isn’t just any shop. This is Aynor’s newly found bakery/cafe. Owned and run by the Doyle family, Our Daily Bread, brings a new sense of hometown charm to the area.
When I walked through the doors of the bakery I felt like I walked into a country home with a French twist. Our Daily Bread feels like a home away from home with its coziness and warmth. When asked what her theme for the bakery was, Mrs. Sandy Doyle hit the nail right on the head when she confessed that she decorated the cafe to make people feel like they were walking into her home.
With the smell of pound cake and cookies in the air, I noticed a variety of goodies the bakery offered. There is something for everyone to choose from. And let’s not forget the low prices! One cookie is only $0.75, an entire apple pie is $16.75 with a slice at $3.75, cupcakes are $1.75 each with a dozen for only $8.75 and coffee is $0.75 for a small.
Now that I mention coffee, Our Daily Bread has a variety of coffee. They serve and sell bagged coffee, as well as iced coffee. By the first of the year, the cafe expects to have a cappucino and espresso machine. With the name, Our Daily Bread, of course there is bread on the menu. Baking their own bread daily, Our Daily Bread offers: French, white, wheat, pumpernickel, sour dough, cheese bread, and croissants.
Looking in the showcase window you will see delicious cakes. Our Daily Bread can make any kind of cake and do anything with a cake to personalize it to your taste. The bakery can customize a caoke by putting a photograph on it and add just the right treat to make any occasion special. Our Daily Bread can do more than just customize a cake; they can also customize any dessert you can imagine.
Along with all the goodies, the bakery makes fresh donuts everyday and sells a variety of candy by the pound.
The popular choice on the menu for local Aynor residents in the ham and cheese bake. Another treat on the menu is Mrs. Sandy’s homemade chicken salad; which comes from an old Charleston recipe she noted.
Our Daily Bread is open Monday through Friday, 7am until 7pm and Saturday, 7am until 2pm. The bakery offers local delivery and catering for small functions.
For special occasions such as birthday parties or social events, Our Daily Bread accepts custom orders for people who need a special package. The bakery also has gift baskets that you can make personally or have them made for you. So on the next car ride home, stop by Our Daily Bread where you can get a birthday cake any day of the week!
