Jerry Barnhill

Jerry Barnhill, a lifelong resident of Galivants Ferry has been honored for his long career of service at the City of Conway.
At last week’s meeting, Conway city council decided to name a new road off of Hwy 378 Jerry Barnhill Boulevard, after the Public Works Director.  The road will provide access to the city’s new shop facility, which Barnhill was instrumental in developing.
Barnhill is in his 34th year with the City and was taken completely by surprise by the announcement.
“I hadn’t heard anything about it until the city administrator [Bill Graham] brought it up during the council meeting,” Barnhill said.  “I didn’t know they were even thinking about it.  You don’t usually get a road named after you when you’re still working with the City.”
He added that he feels honored to be thought of so highly by the administrator and council.
“I was a little emotional to be honest,” he said.  “It’s nice to be honored by your employer.”
Barnhill resides in Galivants Ferry with his wife Sandy.  They have three children, Amber Barnhill, John Gardner, and the late Jerry Rae Barnhill, Jr.
